A personal property account search allows a user to locate a personal property account using one or more search filters. A search will return the user zero or more candidate results that satisfy the search criteria. The user may then choose a specific personal property account in order to investigate it in more detail.

PERSONAL PROPERTY SEARCH FILTERS

The search filters available in a personal property account search are:

  • Municipality: This represents the municipality to which the account belongs. Set this filter to <All Municipalities> in order to apply any other search filters as part of a county-wide search.
  • First Name: The first name of any owner associated with the account. If an account has several owners, and any one of these owners' first name matches that of the first name provided, the portal will return the account in the search results. Typically this search filter is used in conjunction with the Last Name filter.
  • Last Name: The last name of any owner associated with the account. If an account has several owners and any one of these owners' last name matches that of the last name provided, the portal will return the account in the search results.
  • Account Number: A sequence of letters, numbers, and sometimes special characters used to identify a personal property account. Account numbers are always unique within a municipality and may be unique across the entire county (depends on the county). A partial parcel number can be typed and the system will execute a wild card search against the account number.
  • Address: This is the site address at which the personal property is located.
  • Filters: This allows users to further limit personal property accounts searches by Alerts (All, Alerts, No Alerts); Roll status (Active, Inactive, All) or account status (Deleted, Existing, All)
  • Sort By: Results may be sorted by Parcel Id, Owner(s) or Addresses (Site Address)

PERSONAL PROPERTY ACCOUNT SEARCH

A user can provide values for multiple search filters at the same time in order to limit the results of the search. For example, specifying only the municipality as a search criteria will produce many more search results than if a user provides values for the municipality and last name filters simultaneously. Then the search may be executed either by clicking the Find Now button.

PERSONAL PROPERTY ACCOUNT SEARCH RESULTS

The search results will display the following information for accounts that satisfy the search filters provided:

  • Account Number:  An sequence of letters, numbers, and sometimes special characters used to identify a personal property account. Account numbers are always unique within a municipality and may be unique across the entire county (depends on the county).
  • Municipality: The represents municipality to which the tax parcel belongs. Set this filter to <All Municipalities> in order to apply any other search filters as part of a county-wide search.
  • Owner: The owner, specified by the assessor, for the account.
  • Status: Indicates if the account is on the current assessment roll. 'Active' indicates that an account is on the current year's assessment roll and will receive a tax bill.

Depending on the type and number of search filters a user provides to a search, the number of results may fit on a single result page, or they may be distributed over a number of result pages. A user may choose the maximum number of results by selecting a number from the Records/Page selection list. Consider the following example:

In this example, a search for All Records across the Town of Bergen is being performed. The sorting and paging options specify twenty (20) results be summarized per page. The user may navigate to a different page of results by clicking on a paging control link. The user may navigate to view specific personal property account details by clicking on a specific account number in the Account Number column. The currently displayed page of results can be printed by clicking the Print Results link.

NOTE: Using the Print Results link only prints the page you are on (not all search result pages).
